Hackensack Children’s Fishing Contest Week 8

   This week the Canadian and West Coast fire smoke was mostly dissipated, giving us better quality air on a perfect 76 degree day with nice sun.  We had 72 participants as we come closer to the last contest of the year.

Kitchigami Regional Library mobile library, branch library August schedules

   PINE RIVER – The Kitchigami Regional Library has announced their mobile library schedule for the month of August.

   Some time ago the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) learned of a serious problem affecting wildlife in our state, especially our beloved state bird, the common loon.

State Hwy. 200 construction update

MNDOT reports that the construction is going as planned. The west box culvert near the west County Road 124 has been installed and is covered with gravel.

DNR and partners are implementing next drought response steps

   With 52 percent of Minnesota now experiencing severe drought and 4 percent in extreme drought, the state has entered the drought warning phase. With this designation, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and others are taking additional steps.

Aug. 4 Turtle Races Cancelled in Longville

   Due to the road closure of Hwy. 200 and the detour going through Longville on Cty. Rd. 5 the turtle races scheduled for Aug. 4 have been cancelled.

Pop-Up Pantry Tues. Aug. 10 in Longville

   A pop-up pantry will take place at the Longville Food Shelf (back lot) on Tuesday, Aug. 10 from 9:45 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. or until the food is gone.

Longville Lions host CornFest/Hot Dog Feed

   The Longville Lions will be hosting their annual CornFest/Hot Dog Feed on Saturday, August 7th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Lakeside Concert Series in Hackensack

   The Northwoods Arts Council is hosting the Lakeside Concert Series throughout the summer.
