Region Five Development Commission receives National Impact Award

    Region Five Development Commission (R5DC) based in Staples, MN has received a 2021 Aliceann Wohlbruck Impact Award from the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) for rural energy and environment planning.

Hackensack Chamber of Commerce hosts The Children’s Giving Tree

   The Hackensack Chamber of Commerce will again be hosting “The Children’s Giving Tree” for Christmas this year.

Hackensack’s blood drive brings in 37 volunteers

   The Hackensack community hosted a blood drive with Vitalant on October 25 at the Hackensack Community Building which helped collect a total of 38 units of blood products for patients in need. 

Community Children’s Shop Day offered gifts via drive-by pickup

   Annually the Pine River United Methodist Church hosts a Community Children’s Shop Day.  Due to the COVID virus, personal shopping inside the church will not be available this year.  Instead they will be offering gifts through a drive-by pickup.

Cohasset OSB facility infrastructure one step closer

   St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) has awarded $2,000,000 to the City of Cohasset to assist with the extension of water and sewer lines that will allow for the construction of the Huber Engineered Woods Oriented Strand Board (OSB) facility.

Pop-Up Pantry Tues. Nov. 9 in Longville

   A pop-up pantry will take place at the Longville Food Shelf (back lot) on Tuesday, Nov. 9 from 9:45 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. or until the food is gone.

Cass County benefit distributes record $17,000 to youth exhibiting at state fair and other sites

   The Cass County Friends of Youth State Fair Scholarship Fund committee awarded $17,000 to 34 county 4-Hers this year received $500 each to help defray their expenses for exhibiting at the State Fair and regional state competitions around the state.

YAH Club Cribbage Results

   The Longville Young At Heart Senior Club host cribbage every Wednesday at 1 p.m. The club hosts 500 on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. 

Washburn Lake Watershed - Cass County forest addition

   Washburn Lake in Cass County is classified as a tullibee (cisco) refuge lake. Protection of land in the lake’s watershed is an important way to preserve water quality in this important cold-water lake.
