The Minnesota bear hunting season opens Monday, Sept. 1, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is once again asking hunters to avoid shooting marked research bears.

Mille Lacs Lake walleye limit increases from two to three on Aug. 23

The walleye limit on Mille Lacs Lake will increase from two to three beginning Saturday, August 23, and continuing through Sunday, November 30. The size limit — which allows anglers to harvest fish 17 inches or longer but only one longer than 20 inches — remains in place.

The Bob Savre Senior Men’s League had 45 golfers forming 12 teams show up to play the game of the day “3 Low Net Scores on Each Hole” at Longbow Golf Club.

Another successful festival run

The 30th Anniversary of the Northwoods Art and Book Festival had strong attendance despite current MNDot road construction and detours. The weather was rain free and a summer perfect day for enjoying music, food and drink vendors, featured artists and authors.
