Gordon Edward Nelson Jr. passed away March 17, 2026. He was born on January 23, 1949, in Superior, Wisconsin, to Gordon and Donna Nelson. He attended school in Superior and graduated in 1967.
Gordy developed a passion for motorcycles at an early age and built his first minibike with the help of his father. His family shared a love for the outdoors, spending their time camping, fishing, and gathered around campfires. He held cherished memories of his mother making Christmas special with her beautiful cookies and homemade goods.
Gordy and Judy were married on July 15, 1978, in Buffalo, Minnesota, where they raised their two sons, Gordy and Cory. The family spent many weekends fishing, camping, hunting, and listening to his favorite music by the Beach Boys. Gordy worked at Liberty Carton in Golden Valley, Minnesota, for 24 years before he and Judy purchased Chippewa Resort on Woman Lake in Hackensack, Minnesota, which they operated for 14 years. Additionally, Gordy served as a school bus driver for the Remer School District for 22 years until his retirement in 2014.
In their retirement, Gordy and Judy took pride in maintaining their home and yard. They enjoyed traveling to Florida, eventually purchasing a winter home at Brookside Bluff in Zolfo Springs. Gordy found great pleasure in exploring the local walking paths and spotting alligators at the nearby creek.
Gordy was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Donna. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy; his sons, Gordy (LaRae) and Cory (Brandi); his grandchildren, Alyssa (Jon) Blake, Whitney (Tyler) Kuechle, Nathan Nelson, Logan Marvin, and Lane Marvin; and his great-grandchildren, Abraham, William, Eden, Jackson, Rowan, Easton, Otto, and Regan, Brother Rick and Sister Patty (Darrell) Keene, Nieces Lisa (Derek) and Erin
Gordy’s gentle laughter and quiet sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
