Deep Portage Programs Feature Archery, Foraging and Climbing
Deep Portage Learning Center continues the outdoor programs the week of July 14th, giving participants opportunities to learn new skills, explore nature and enjoy hands-on experiences.
On July 14, Deep Portage will host Archery sessions from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. Participants ages 10 and older can learn the basics of shooting both compound and recurve bows at the center’s archery range. Each session is limited to 20 participants.
A Raspberries and Stick Bread program is scheduled for July 16 from 9 a.m. to noon. Participants ages 8 and older will learn to identify raspberry plants before heading into the woods to harvest berries. The group will then return to the campfire to make stick bread and enjoy the freshly cooked raspberries. Space is limited to 15 participants.
On July 21, Deep Portage’s 35-foot Climbing Wall will be open for sessions from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Climbers ages 7 and older can test their skills on routes designed for a variety of ability levels while trained staff provide belay support. Each session is limited to 20 participants.
