This past Saturday, the Walker Talkers made a short trip north to compete at the 20th annual Bemidji

Lumberjack Invitational. As the team entered the middle of the season, many speakers took the opportunity to rest over the weekend. However, four Walker Talkers attended the tournament, and the team walked away with three awards.

Jace Ungerecht earned a ribbon in the category of Humor. Isaias Jimenez-McMurrin advanced into the honor final round of Oratory and placed 4th. Trevor Kuechle advanced into the honor final round of Great Speeches and placed 4th.

In the team awards, Laporte and Mountain Iron-Buhl placed 1st and 2nd in the small schools category.

In the large school category, Staples-Motley, Pequot Lakes, and Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton placed 1st through

3rd respectively.

The time has finally arrived for the Walker Talkers to host the annual Chuck Beckman Memorial tournament. The tournament will take place this Saturday, March 1st, at WHA High School. There are expected to be almost 30 schools with over 350 speakers in attendance. If you are interested in supporting the team through a sponsorship, contact assistant coach Katelin DeLorenzo at [email protected].

Information can also be found on Facebook and Instagram through coach DeLorenzo’s profile. Any support is always appreciated! In addition to Saturday’s competition, the junior high team will travel to Pequot Lakes on Thursday evening for the 3rd junior high tournament of the season.
