Traffic stop leads to methamphetamine seizure arrests


   Cass County Sheriff Bryan Welk reports that on Wednesday July 3rd 2024, pursuant to an investigation into the use, sale, and trafficking of illegal controlled substances, Cass County Sheriff’s Office Investigators conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on State 371 in Wilson Township, rural Pine River, MN. A Cass County K9 was utilized to search the vehicle, through the investigation, approximately two pounds of suspected methamphetamine was located inside the vehicle. 

   Arrested from the vehicle was the driver, Cherry Osborne, age 58, of Longville, MN and passenger Robert Johnson, age 73, of Longville, MN. The investigated indicates that the suspected large amount of methamphetamine was going to be sold and distributed in Cass County and on the Leech Lake Indian Reservation. The vehicle was seized and is pending forfeiture.

   Assisting with the investigation was the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force.
