Using strengths to build healthy communities

Cass County Health, Human and Veterans Services’ Public Health Department invites Cass County residents to participate in a facilitated discussion to talk about healthy communities on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., at the Backus Land Department located at 218 Washburn Avenue. Cass County Public Health is conducting the Community Health Assessment, an assessment that all 87 counties within Minnesota complete every three to five years. The Community Health Assessment builds a foundation to understand the county’s current health status. It is an important foundational tool which Public Health Departments use to improve our community’s health and wellbeing.

The first step in improving the health of the community is to understand what the community’s health looks like. The discussion will involve sharing ideas, discovering needs, gaps, disparities, and perceptions within the communities, and pairing these with existing strengths, resources, and partnerships in Cass County. The information gathered will be combined with other sources of information including a previously collected randomized paper survey, key informant interviews and other community group input.

Insight from the Community Health Assessment will be used to develop the framework for the Community Health Improvement Plan, providing a roadmap for community partners and residents to collaborate on health improvement strategies so we can all live healthy.

For further information or if you are not able to attend the facilitated discussion but would like to provide feedback, please contact Jamie Richter at 218-547-6832 or email at: [email protected]
