Petal Pushers Garden Club busy start to spring

Ice out has finally arrived which signals to Petal Pushers that it is time to get busy. The Garden Club’s mission is to provide community service to promote civic beauty and to educate members regarding horticulture practices.

In March Jon Hokanson from The Longville General Store spoke to members and demonstrated the art of making delicious homemade maple syrup. The April spring planning meeting took place at One Little Piggy in Walker. After the meeting members made colorful garden signs to welcome spring.

The next meeting is Tuesday May 23rd. Members will assemble at Petal Pusher Park on Longville’s Main Street to design and plant flower barrels at the park and library. They are maintained throughout the summer. Members also have options to  attend fun field trips, luncheons and educational programs scheduled through December.

Residents and visitors are invited to stop by on planting day to get to know the group. Everyone is invited to rest on the benches, enjoy the flowers, some shade and an ice cream snack as the summer heats up.

Anyone interested in additional information is welcome to call Tal Hess at (218) 363-2282. Have a wonderful summer!
