May 8, 1923
A moving picture show at the Longville schoolhouse is announced – Admission Adults 25 cents and children 10 cents.
Several farmers at Remer closed up their farms preparatory to leaving for Davenport, IA where they will take up chiropractic work.
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. O’Neil left Federal Dam last week for the West where he has work for the summer.
75 Years Ago
April 23, 1948
Amiel Baker first settled in Smoky Hollow township in 1902 and resided there until 1940. He developed the sheep industry in the county when he had over 200 head of Shropshire ewes.
Maynard Davis left Federal Dam Tuesday to work on the Garrison Dam in North Dakota.
A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy “Cuff” Woodruff on April 14th weighing 7 pounds six ounces. They named her Sandra Kay.

April 26, 1973
Sandra Sawyer, Rilla King, Sharon Dauber and Mary DeLong were in the band contest Friday at Staples.
Mrs. Amber Wolske and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wolske left Saturday for Boston to visit relatives and Mrs. Robert Wake is taking care of the store.
Minnie McClusky and grandson spent the weekend visiting with friends at Remer.

A small public access to Leech Lake at Brevik has created big parking problems: vehicles with boat trailers are blocking township road No. 5. The DNR will be enforcing parking regulations.
Remer Volunteer Fire Department held extrication training with their new hydraulic tools that are part of the new fire truck’s equipment.
After a 10-year hiatus, over 40 runners ran in the 30k Run Around Woman and another 180 did the 5k Run/Walk event.
