The Finnelly graveyard is about a mile northeast of Hackensack in a small clearing at the end of a rugged path known as the Stony Lake Trail. There are 32 graves located there. In 1985 Hackensack American Legion Auxiliary adopted this cemetery and has had memorial services every year. A permanent marker has been put up.
The Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 772 presented “Certificates of Appreciation” to Goldie Wiesner and Gloria White. Gloria sews baby hats and mittens for newborns at St. Joseph Hospital in Brainerd and makes ditty bags. Gloria makes Easter and Christmas favors, and other gifts for 68 veterans at Ah Gwah Ching.
Derek Sumption shot an 80 and outlasted two Roseau golfers in a 5-hole tie breaker to gain a berth in the Class A 1996 Minnesota State High School Golf tournament.
