The Working Together Coalition will be sponsoring two workships.

For the first workshop, The Working Together Coalition has arranged for Jay Jaffee, Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Prevention Coordinator Minnesota Department of Health to come and visit with our community about Synthetic Cannabinoids and Synthetic Stimulants Presentation on Wednesday May 4th, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. The presentation will take place at the Walker Area Community Center.

Synthetic cannabinoid products like K2 & Spice and synthetic stimulants marketed as "bath salts" have received a lot of attention recently. These substances are among a number of lesser known substances used by some as a drug. There is a lot of misinformation about some of these substances. This presentation will take a look at some of these substances, what they are, how they are used, and the effects from using them and efforts to prevent their use.[[In-content Ad]]

The second workshop "The Difference" will be presented by Craig Hillier on May 12th, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. This workshop will be held at the Hackensack Senior Center. This program is a fun, engaging workshop that focuses on how we connect with youth. The program covers:

•It starts with YOU!

•How today's youth are different from previous generations

•Strategies on how to effectively use activities to improve learning.

This program is designed for teachers, paraprofessionals, all school staff, coaches, social workers, probation officers, human service staff, scout leaders, youth group leaders, and any adults that work with youth or that are concerned about youth in any capacity.
