Walk for Let's Go Fishing set for May 21 in Walker
Let's Go Fishing is a non-profit organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of senior citizens and youth, through fishing and boating activities. The Lakes Area Chapter LGF serves the communities of Longville, Hackensack, and Walker. Since the chapter's beginning in 2007, it has taken over 1000 seniors and youngsters on local fishing and boating outings. There is no fee for the services and the organization operates entirely with volunteer staff. Lakes Area Chapter's operating budget is locally raised to fund senior/youth boating activities.[[In-content Ad]]
During 2010 The Lakes Area Chapter of Let's Go Fishing partnered with local nursing homes, assisted living facilities, adult group homes, churches, different senior organizations, youth camps, Kinship and the general public to provide a wide range of boating and fishing adventures.
Fishing and boating is such a common past-time for Minnesotans and we may often take for granted how easy it is for many of us to enjoy Minnesota's beautiful lakes and rivers. LGF returns the outdoor experience to those who might not otherwise have the opportunity to fish, boat or enjoy time with friends on the water. The program returns a sense of freedom to the lives of our senior guests, providing them with safe opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. In addition LGF introduce area young people to fishing and boating activities, while fostering new intergenerational relationships.
