WALKER - Cass county authorities report a 64 year old Elk River man has died while assisting in cutting down a tree in Ponto Lake Township. The victim was apparently trying to guide the tree with a long rope when he was struck by falling debris. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Chief Deputy Tom Burch reports the cause of the accident remains under investigation. The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.[[In-content Ad]]
