State Patrol shows concerns over travel during the July 4th holiday weekend

BAXTER - The Minnesota State Patrol has some legitimate concerns over travels on or near the Fourth of July holiday time period. State Patrol Regional Public Information Officer, Sgt. Curt Mowers says, "Looking at the time period from 2004 through 2009, the Fourth of July holiday period is about the third deadliest of the six major holidays."

Sgt. Mowers noted that, "Just during that time period in Minnesota, traffic crashes killed at least 41 people and injured at least 1,784 more, which is not acceptable. Some of the more serious issues include impaired driving, failing to buckle up appropriately, speeding and inattentive driving. We want everyone to know that the State Patrol is working very hard with other agencies to educate and enforce, but we would rather gain voluntary compliance to our traffic safety laws."[[In-content Ad]]
