Shelly Hansen, RN, CNS, Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialist from Cuyuna Regional Medical Center (CRMC) will be speaking at Dinner with the Docs on May 6. Shelly has been a nurse for 17 years and has worked in diabetes care and education for nearly five years. Her past healthcare experience includes working as a floor nurse, charge nurse, OB nurse, and in care management. She received her Bachelor's RN, BSN from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska and completed her Master of Arts at the College of St. Scholastica, Duluth, Minnesota in Nursing for Clinical Nurse Specialist. Shelly truly appreciates being able to empower people to live well with diabetes and increase their quality of life.

On Friday, Shelly will share a wealth of information on managing and preventing diabetes. She will cover current local and nationwide statistics on the disease as well explain the process of diabetes in a person. Shelly will note the signs of pre-diabetes and how people can understand early onset of the disease. Lastly, she will help the audience understand that people can live well with diabetes by being empowered with self-management and taking control of their own health.
