Seminar for lake service pros set for March 28

WALKER - A seminar for watercraft dealers, dock installers, fishing guides and all toehr lake service professionals will be held in Walker on Monday, March 28, at the Walker Community Center, from 9 to 11 a.m. It is part of the on-going fight against aquatic non-native species infecting our lakes and rivers.

Jerry Lerom, president of the Association of Cass County Lakes (ACCL), urges area professionals to attend the two-hour, no-charge seminar presented by the Dept. of Natural Resources (DNR) and Minnesota Waters. Subjects will include how to identify and prevent the spread of invasive species such as Eurasian milfoil, zebra mussels and other unwanted, non-native flora and fauna.[[In-content Ad]]

DNR staff conducting it will be invasive species biologist Darrin Hoverson and conservative officer Shane Sitala. They will review procedures for moving boats, docks, lifts and all water equipment; cleaning of dock/lift tools, watercraft and waders; etc., and give a full summary of the infested lakes and rivers in our area.

DNR certification will be issued to participants. Those who attended last year's seminar should attend this one for new information and recertification.

For information, contact Courtney Kowalczak at [email protected]. Or call her at 218-343-2180. Minnesota Waters is a co-sponsor of the seminar, with the cooperation of area lake associations. Register at the door or by advance registration. The Walker Community Center is located at 105 Tower Ave.
