Remer Harvest Festival Aug. 13-14


REMER - "Celebrating Our Volunteers," is the theme for the annual Harvest Festival, in Remer. The Harvest Festival is offering full lineup of activities and events Friday. Aug. 13 and Saturday, Aug. 14.

On Friday, Woodland Bank will have a open house and buffet lunch from 11:30 to 1:30 with a meet & greet with President and CEO, Brian Nicklason. Second Chance Thrift Store will host a fashion show at 3 p.m. An all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m., at the Fire Hall. Just For Kix will perform after dinner, followed by the announcement of the Harvest Festival Grand Marshal, Art Student logo winner, and the first clue for the medallion hunt.

The Fire Hall will also be the location for the "Remer's Got Talent," contest. The contest will begin at approximately 7 p.m. and run through 8:30 p.m. After the contest stick around for Family Fun Karaoke with Fred Ebert.

Saturday's lineup begins with a "Fun Run," staging at 7 a.m., at the Cenex Station. A pancake breakfast, hosted by the Engen family, 8-10:30 a.m., at the Fire Hall. A craft fair will be at the Remer Motel from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. An all day flea market will be staged near the Remer Clark Station. A traveling beer garden will open at 10 a.m. The medallion hunt continues with clues at the Fire Hall. Bethany Lutheran Church's turkey BBQ is also at the Fire Hall, serving from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Staging for the Kiddie Parade is near the gazebo at the City Park. The Kiddie Parade will begin making its way down Main Street at 11:45, followed by the Harvest Festival Parade, staging location for the Harvest Festival Parade is the school parking lot.

Tractors and old cars will be on display at the Remer Depot. Northland Alliance Church will host kids games at the City Park beginning at 1 p.m. Bingo with the Renn family will be at the Fire Hall at 2 p.m. After the parade, the Fire Hall will be the location for the beer garden. The horseshoe tournament gets under way at The Pub at 2 p.m. The mud will be flying at 3 p.m., when the ATV Club's mud run revs up the action.

Paul Christian will provide live musical entertainment at the Fire Hall from 4 to 6 p.m. Following Christian's performance at the Fire Hall, parade winners will be announced. Young Country will hit the stage at the Fire Hall from 6:30 until 10 p.m., followed by the raffle drawing. The Pub's live entertainment is Nine Lives, on stage from 8:30 p.m. until 12:30 a.m.

To participate in the medallion hunt and support this year's entertainment, a 2010 Harvest Festival button may be purchased for $5. Buttons are available at Remer area businesses.
