Longville Area Ambulance Service annual report released
North Memorial Ambulance operates the service under a contract with Cass County for a special taxing district, which includes the city and townships surrounding Longville. Their 2010 budget had anticipating transporting 10 more patients than they did, according to their annual report to the county board.
City and township special assessments supplement the service's income. Users and their insurers pay the balance.

The largest number of people (76) Longville Ambulance transported chose Essential Health's St. Joseph Medical Center in Brainerd for their medical care. The next highest number (61) went to Crosby, followed by 24 to Deer River, 18 to Bemidji, 16 to Cass Lake, 13 to Grand Rapids and three to Park Rapids. Eleven patients were transported by AirCare helicopter service.
With revenue down about one percent in 2010 compared with 2009 due to transporting fewer patients and expenses up close to 3 percent due to increased wages and benefits, Longville Ambulance's net profit margin dropped from 11.9 percent in 2009 to 9.1 percent in 2010.
North Memorial Ambulance Brainerd Region, which includes Longville, scored 93.75 out of 100 points on a national patient satisfaction survey.
