Foundation Seeks Anti-Poverty Projects for VISTA Volunteers
In partnership with the AmeriCorps VISTA program, the Initiative Foundation will place 20 full-time VISTA members in organizations serving Benton, Cass, Crow Wing, Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Pine, Sherburne, Stearns, Todd, Wadena or Wright Counties. Eligible host sites include nonprofit organizations, schools and government agencies.
Host site applications are due by February 4th. Initiative Foundation program partners directly responding to poverty issues will be given first consideration. Other programs considered include those that:
• Increase economic opportunity through financial literacy, housing, life skills, etc.[[In-content Ad]]
• Support education for at-risk children, youth and adults through early childhood education, youth development, vocational/workforce training, etc.
• Provide access to preventative and emergency services including mental health rehabilitation services for disadvantaged populations.
• Support veterans and their families.
Host sites recruit, interview and select their own VISTA members from a pool of local and national candidates. Selected VISTAs receive training, medical coverage and a monthly living allowance to help enable them to serve.
