Dine and Discover program set for July 15 in Walker
Living in the Walker area, we see old buildings, but don't often hear the old stories. Learn more about T.B. Walker and the town's early history at the next Dine and Discover at the Walker Senior Center on Thursday, July15, at 11:30 a.m. You can come to hear the free speaker, or call
547-4181 for a reservation (required) for the 11:30 meal. There is a fee for the meal; free coffee is provided. The Walker Senior Center is located on Hwy 34 south.
In the summer of 2009, the Cass County Historical Society sponsored a monthly History Walk that visited many older buildings along Cleveland Blvd., in Walker, and told the stories of the people who lived in them, many of them the movers and shakers of early Walker. On July 15, Dine and Discover Guest Speakers Dan and Sue Eikenberry will present a recap
of last summer's History Walk while in costume and will introduce this summer's Walk as well. The Eikenberrys are well acquainted with the history of early Walker and will tell stories and bring some artifacts from the Cass County Museum to show the group. Following the Dine & Discover presentation, they will be available to answer questions.
Dine and Discover is a free, ongoing resource and information program held the third Thursday of each month in Walker, sponsored by Faith in Action for Cass County and the Senior Leech Lakers. For more information about Dine and Discover, call Faith in Action for Cass County at 218-675-5435.
