Belgum to perform in St. Olaf Christmas Festival


NORTHFIELD - Holly Belgum of Remer, Minn., will participate in the 2010 St. Olaf College Christmas Festival, one of the nation's longest-running celebrations of the season. Belgum, a member of the Chapel Choir , will appear in four performances December 2-5. The festival, which first took place in 1912, is a two-hour program of hymns, carols, choral works, and orchestral selections that celebrate the birth of Christ. This year's concert, A Child, a Son, the Prince of Peace, includes more than 500 student musicians in five choirs and the St. Olaf Orchestra under the leadership of Artistic Director Anton Armstrong.

Minnesota Public Radio will present a live broadcast of the 2010 St. Olaf Christmas Festival on Sunday, December 5, at 3:30 p.m. The broadcast can be heard on most regional classical music stations and will be streamed live online at minnesota.publicradio.org You can also hear an encore broadcast of the concert on December 23 at 7 p.m.

Belgum is junior, majoring in Biology, English, Instrument/voice: Alto II. She is the daughter of Colleen Belgum, of Remer, and a Northland High School graduate.[[In-content Ad]]
