Backus Legion to host events during Corn Fest
The post will kick off the weekend with a meat raffle at 5:30 p.m. Friday, followed by lounge bingo about 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 14, there will be a horseshoe tournament with a $10 entry fee and a 100 percent payout plus from cash added to the prizes by the Legion. Sign up starts at 1 p.m. At 4 p.m. there's a bean bag tournament with a $10 entry fee for each two-person team. Cash prizes will be awarded for first through third places, plus the most ringers. Free cash and customer drawings will be at 9 pm.[[In-content Ad]]Sunday the Frankie Lamb Band returns to the Legion from 2-6 p.m., playing classic country and pop, old time and swing. The annual drawing for the Legion Auxiliary's raffle featuring dozens of prizes will be held at 4 p.m. Purchasers of the $1 tickets need not be present.
The main Corn Fest events are on Saturday and include a parade at 11 a.m., followed by a ham, corn and watermelon feed. There's also kids games, a craft and flea market, plane rides, beer garden, traveling music, an evening street dance and fireworks at dusk and a festival raffle featuring one-half beef, a hog and a $100 Godrey's Super Valu certificate.
