Backus American Legion to host two community fundraisers
A fish fry will be held from 4:30 p.m. until gone, on Saturday, Oct. 16 with proceeds going to the Backus Fire Dept. and First Responders. The meal includes fish, cole slaw and a baked potato for $7 a plate. There will also be a seven round meat raffle.
The post is also sponsoring its annual Great Pumpkin Contest as part of a fundraiser for the area food shelf. The largest pumpkin ever grown for the event is on display at the clubrooms at Hwys. 371 and 87 West. Participants can guess the weight of the pumpkin for a chance to win a $20 food/beverage certificate. There is no charge for entering. Participants need not be present to win and may make a donation to the food shelf but it is not required to enter the contest. The winner will be announced Oct. 30.[[In-content Ad]]
