A time of transition and renewal for the Longville Area Community Choir
After a year of inactivity due to Covid concerns, the Longville Area Community Choir (LACC) is moving forward with plans for a 2021 Christmas Concert on December 5, with fingers crossed that conditions in December will allow the concert to occur.
The concert will continue to be the annual “gift to the community” that audiences have known and loved for many years. But change is inevitable, and the choir is bidding farewell to Eunice Benson, who has directed the choir since 2003. Her background in leading adult and children’s music programs, along with her exceptional knowledge of music and her piano skills, made her a perfect fit for leading the LACC. During her tenure, the choir has performed some truly memorable concerts, where singers and audiences alike have benefited from her musical talent and high standards of excellence. Eunice will be moving out of the area this fall. She is grateful for the opportunity to have directed the LACC and for the community that has been so appreciative of the concerts.
The LACC is going to honor Eunice with a reception on Tuesday, August 24 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Stuart Park Pavilion in Longville. All choir members, as well as members of the community, are invited to attend. A light, casual supper will be served. Please plan on attending to help thank Eunice and wish her well.
Fortunately, the choir has a very talented person ready to lead the 2021 concert. Bonnie Collins, who has been one of the LACC’s rehearsal and concert accompanists for several years, has agreed to become interim concert director. Bonnie has years of experience as a piano teacher, playing at 12 different churches and accompanying church choirs, and accompanying soloists and instrumentalists. She looks forward to a challenging, wonderful and exciting year as the choir returns to celebrating together with music.
Please join the choir at the park to thank Eunice for sharing her love of music and her talents with us all and to wish her happiness in her future.
