Tom Witherow, 84, of Prescott, Arizona, but a long-time resident of Remer, MN. passed away on February 16th, 2026. He was born in Hibbing on March 12th, 1941 to Henry and Ann (Lesar). He grew up in Grand Rapids, MN. and graduated with the Class of 1959. He attended Bemidji State College, where he met the love of his life, MaryBeth Dunstan. They married on August 15th, 1964 in Ely, MN. and shared 57 years together until her passing on September 29th, 2021.
Tom dedicated most of his life to music education, serving as a band and choir director across several cities throughout Iowa and Minnesota. Later in his career, he became a principal and superintendent. In 1986, Tom and Mary made their final hometogether in Remer.
Both Tom and Mary were active community members, always involved in local events and parades in Remer, Longville, and Grand Rapids. In his later years, Tom enjoyed being a realtor at Thunder Lake Realty and could be found remodeling homes or driving his ATV around town.
After Mary’s passing, Tom moved to Prescott, AZ, to live closer to his daughter.
Tom is survived by his daughter Krista Witherow (Frankie) of Prescott, AZ; son Kyle (Tracey) Witherow of Woodbury, MN; granddaughter Claire of Minneapolis, MN; and grandson Cole of Woodbury, MN. brother Bob (Judy) Witherow, sisters MaryAnn Hodgson and Connie (Art) Stoeke. He was preceded in death by his wife MaryBeth Dunstan, parents, and stepsister Clarice Schmidt.
