Fire destroys Cass Lake business
Cass County Sheriff Bryan Welk reports that at 10:47 p.m. on March 26th, 2026, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a large fire on the south side of Cass Lake, east of State Hwy 371. Deputies arrived in the area and found a large structure located on Second St SW in the City of Cass Lake, at the Timberlyne Wood Products kiln drying and storage facility engulfed in fire.
Firefighters and equipment from the Cass Lake Fire Department, Bemidji Fire Department, Walker Fire Department and the Minnesota DNR worked throughout the night to contain and extinguish the fire. The structure and contents are initially reported to be a total loss. There were no reported injuries associated with the fire and the investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the State of Minnesota Fire Marshall’s Office.
