Cass County DFL Caucuses to be held February 3
Cass County’s Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) precinct caucuses are scheduled for Tuesday, February 3. DFL caucusgoers will gather at six different locations: Cass Lake, Backus, Lake Shore, Pillager, Wabedo Township, and Walker. Registration will begin at 6:30 pm. The caucus meeting will convene at 7:00 p.m.
The precinct in which a voter lives determines their caucus location. Democrats can find their precinct’s assigned caucus at https://dfl.org/caucus/ or on the Minnesota Secretary of State’s website at https://caucusfinder.sos.mn.gov/.
Cass County residents who will be eligible to vote in the November 3 general election can fully participate in the business of the caucus. Residents who are at least 16 years old by November 3 can also participate in the discussion at a DFL caucus, but they will not be able to vote on caucus business.
At DFL caucuses, participants will have the opportunity to volunteer to assist the Cass County DFL in supporting candidates or serve as an election judge, discuss issues and concerns of importance to them for consideration in the DFL Party Platform, and choose delegates who will ultimately endorse candidates for Minnesota House and Senate seats, 8th Congressional District, U.S. Senate, the Minnesota State Governor and Lt. Governor, Auditor, Secretary of State, and State Attorney General.
A nonbinding preference poll for the state governor is scheduled to be taken at the DFL precinct caucuses as well. The DFL caucuses, like those of other major parties in Minnesota, use this poll as an initial measure of support for candidates and to help influence the candidate endorsement process which culminates at the State Convention in May 2026.
Voters who have a conflict with the meeting time, but still want to be part of their precinct’s team can complete a Non-Attendance Form and submit it to [email protected] or mail it to PO Box 276, Hackensack, MN 56452 no later than Sat., Jan. 31. As an alternative, you can fill out the Minnesota DFL 2026 Precinct Caucus Non-Attendee Form and have someone deliver it to the caucus location on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. If hand-delivered, it needs to be submitted at least 15 minutes before delegate elections begin for your nomination to be considered. Find the form and additional information at https://dfl.org/caucus/.
