Busy January Begins With Tough Test for Storm Girls

The Storm girls opened the New Year with a tough match-up against the Floodwood Polar Bears. The Storm didn’t have any problems with the Polar Bear’s press and shot well from the perimeter, but struggled to get anything going inside. The Storm ended up losing the game 44–79.

Nora Wake scored 13 points and Maddie Barnes contributed 12 points. Madi King pulled down 17 rebounds and Charity Berg had five assists.

“This is the beginning of a very busy month for us, we’re playing about a third of our schedule in the next few weeks. We need to take each game one at a time and hopefully we stay healthy. We should have some really good matchups that should be fun to watch,” said Head Coach Alec Wake.

At the time of press the results of the Silver Bay and Ely games were not available. On Mon., Jan. 12 the girls traveled to Chisholm to take on the Bluestreaks. They will continue the week hosting Mille Lacs in Remer on Thurs., Jan. 15 and Littlefork-Big Falls on Fri., Jan. 16 beginning at 6 p.m. in Remer.
