Reception to meet artist Pat Abraham at Hackensack Hub March 7

The Hackensack Hub continues its mission to connect and create community by supporting local artists. The Hub is proud to showcase the art of Pat Abraham, a contributor to the local arts scene.

A reception to meet artist Patricia (Pat) Abraham will be held at the Hub Sat., March 7 from 5 to 6 p.m. Abraham, a math teacher, began her art career in 1994 when she accompanied a friend to an art class at the Harvey Schroeder Studio in Elk River, Mn. Intrigued by the process she was observing she joined the studio that evening and continued to study oil painting under the very talented Harvey until moving to lake country in 2005. Her artistic skills were enhanced by several additional workshops .

For several years during their retirement Pat and her husband spent part of each winter in Florida where she joined the Pine Island (Florida) Art Association, participating in classes taught by well-respected area artists. Pat continues to enjoy attending their show when visiting in Florida and seeing again the many artist friends she had made while a member of the PIAA.

As a summer resident of the Hackensack-Walker area Pat had often attended, as a spectator, the Leech Lake Art League shows.  After beginning oil painting, she joined the league and has participated in their show and sale for the past 29 years.  While continuing her work in oils she has explored other art forms, including collage or assemblage of natural materials, rocks, driftwood, dogwood, and other materials which for the most part are supplied by mother nature .

As a member of the art community, yet guided by her own sensibility, a quotation from Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales displayed on a plaque in her studio sums up Pat’s guiding principle:   “I am myn  owene woman, wel at ese”.

The exhibition will run through May, giving residents and visitors time to stop by, and engage with Pat’s work. The Hackensack Hub invites the public to experience this showcase firsthand and to support local artists who enrich the cultural fabric of the community.

About The Hackensack Hub The Hackensack Hub is a non-profit organization with the purpose to provide a center for recreation, fellowship, and education for the benefit of the community.
