Funding available for Cass County agricultural producers
Staples, MN — Cass County agricultural producers have an opportunity to receive financial assistance to attend an upcoming in-person educational workshop focused on profitable grazing management and farm economics.
The workshop, hosted by the Crow Wing River Basin Forage Council, will take place on Tuesday, February 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Central Lakes College in Staples, MN.
The Crow Wing River Basin Forage Council is a farmer-led group that provides education and networking opportunities focused on grazing management, soil health, and water quality.
Each year, the Forage Council hosts a winter meeting workshop to provide education to regional agricultural producers. This year’s featured speaker is Dallas Mount, owner of Ranch Management Consultants, home of the nationally recognized Ranching for Profit School and Executive Link program. Ranching for Profit is a national leader in helping ranchers understand the economics behind grazing management and how to increase profit per acre.
Topics for the day include an introduction to Ranching for Profit; assessing an operation’s profitability and where money is going; strategies to increase profits; adopting best practices for grazing management; and building a plan to increase profitability. Individual registration for the workshop is $110 per person.
Funding is available through the Cass Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) in the form of a $100 reimbursable stipend, provided after the event.
Producers interested in receiving the $100 reimbursement must contact Aly, with the Soil and Water Conservation District prior to registering for the workshop.
