   Emily Care N Share (CNS) is actively searching for a new home for our commercial kitchen equipment. We provide free meals weekly to two low-income apartment buildings in Crosby and about 70 take-out meals in the Emily-Outing area. We are a 501 (C ) 3 non-profit corporation. Our kitchen is licensed by the Minnesota Health Department has been located in the Emily Wesleyan Church since we incorporated it in 2011. We have many volunteers and are funded only by grants and donations.

   The synod for the Emily Wesleyan Church no longer allows its churches to partner with independent 501 (c ) 3 organizations such as CNS.  So the Emily Wesleyan Church Can no longer renew our long-standing written contract with them. We have until April 2, 2026 to vacate our current kitchen space. We believe in our mission statement to feed the hungry and build community friendships. So we are actively looking for a new home for our kitchen in Emily, Crosby, Outing, Little Pine River, 50 Lakes, Crosslake or surrounding areas. We are open to partnering with other programs and facilities. We will need to store our commercial kitchen equipment and conserve our funding until we find a new home. It’s uncertain how long that will take. We expect the move to be expensive, so we’ll likely need to seek extra donations and grants.

   In the short term, we’ll try to temporarily borrow commercial kitchen space so we can continue making simpler meals for our regular deliveries. We are open to suggestions for a location for a new permanent commercial kitchen or temporary kitchen location. When we find a new permanent home, we expect to be able to begin serving more meals than at present. Care N Share owns equipment for a full commercial kitchen, new dishwasher, 8 x12 walk-in freezer and 8 X12 walk-in cooler, plus all the pots, pans, and cooking utensils to bring along to a new location. We have our own insurance package for liability, workers comp and damage to our equipment.  The equipment will meet state health certification when properly installed.
