Oct. 1, 1925
Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Orton are settled in their new home on Big Horn Mountain, south of Longville.
Mr. and Mrs. P. Monette and daughter Violet left Trelipe for Deer River where they intend to make their home for awhile.
Mrs. A.B. Lego and little son left Federal Dam Monday for Wright where they will make their home.

The Boy River Legion Auxiliary honored Gold Star Mothers: Mrs. Carl Peterson, Mrs. Olaf Johnson, and Mrs. Fred Anderson with corsages in honor of Gold Star Mothers’ Day September 24th.
The Engestrands and Vandeveres of Brevik attended a birthday party in Longville Monday given in honor of Ernie Nyvall.
Mr. and Mrs. John Ilk who have a summer home on Woman Lake celebrated their Silver Wedding anniversary at a banquet at the Cottage Café in Longville.

Oct. 2, 1975
Wabedo Lake near Longville has been designated as a musky lake. It is closed to spearing. Lake Inguadona was ruled out after considerable local opposition was expressed at hearings.
Mark Renn, son of Mrs. and Mrs. Leo Renn of Remer, enlisted in the US Army. After basic training he will attend Light Weapons Infantry Training. He had been working for the State Highway Department.
Forty-five relatives gathered at the cabin sites on the Victor and Fred Martin farm near Hackensack to honor the 90th birthday of Grandpa Victor. He and his wife came to Hackensack in 1911 and settled on this farm where he lives with his son, Martin.

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there’d be a shortage of fishing poles.
Dylan Stallings and Sarah Houtari were Northland’s Homecoming King and Queen. Sarah is a third-generation queen, succeeding her mother Debbie in 1981, and her grandmother, Jeanie Bader, Boy River, 1960.
Marvil Utke, 84, died Sept. 29th. Born in Armenia, ND to Adolf and Hulda Utke, he lived in Boy River until age 15 when he moved to Whipholt. He was a fishing guide on Leech Lake for 50 years. He married Amelia Johnson in 1939, and they operated Marv’s Cabins at Whipholt for more than 30 years.
