   Hackensack’s annual Hacktoberfest celebration is set for Saturday, Oct. 4, featuring contests, food and drink specials, live activities and a festive pub crawl.

   The event kicks off at noon with specials at the American Legion, Birchwood Char House and Bar, and Hack Muni. Two wagons will provide rides between locations, with one departing Birchwood at 11:45 a.m. and the other leaving Hack Muni at the same time.

   A full schedule of contests is planned at each stop: American Legion – Hammerschlagen contest at noon, Stein Holding contest at 3 p.m., and Costume Contest at 6 p.m. Birchwood – Pretzel Eating contest at noon, Hammerschlagen at 2 p.m., Stein Holding contest at 5 p.m., plus a Photo Booth throughout the day. Hack Muni – Keg Rolling contest at noon, Stein Holding contest at 1 p.m., and Hammerschlagen contest at 4 p.m.

   Prizes will be awarded to winners at each location. Festivalgoers are encouraged to dress in traditional German attire—Lederhosen or Dirndls—for even cheaper Oktoberfest beer specials.
