   Cass County Sheriff Bryan Welk reports that on Thursday August 28th 2025 at 2:14 AM, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a shooting incident at a residence in the Prescott Housing area in Wilkinson Township, rural Cass Lake, MN. Deputies and responders arrived at the residence and learned that an unknown male entered a residence and shot an occupant of the residence before fleeing the scene. Deputies immediately rendered medical aid to the victim; a male age 40, of Cass Lake MN and he was transported to Sanford Bemidji with serious injuries. 

   The incident remains under investigation with the assistance of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Assisting at the scene was the Leech Lake Tribal Police Department and the Cass Lake Ambulance.
