   The Pine River-Backus Community Garden will celebrate their 15th season with a public Open House from 3:30 to 6pm on Monday, September 8 in partnership with hosting the CommUnity Meal (4pm) at the garden showcasing produce donated for some of the meals.  Also featured are tours of the garden, live music by Jerry Erickson, games for kids including a scavenger hunt, prize drawing for Chamber Bucks, and beverages. CommUnity Meal participants are encouraged to dine on site. You do not need to participate in the CommUnity Meal to take part in the Open House. Come see this Community Garden, the oldest in Cass County, and celebrate years of growing abundance shared back to the community.

   The garden is located just north of the school and west of the football field at Pine River-Backus School.  This event is funded in part by a Cass County SHIP (Statewide Health Improvement Project) grant. In case of inclement weather, the Open House will be cancelled and CommUnity meal pickup will be at Riverview Church.

   Founded in 2010, the Community Garden has plots and raised beds open to all—no experience necessary. It is organized by a Garden Board in partnership with PRB Community Education.
