Volunteer drivers need with Faith in Action
Minnesota’s food shelves have seen a large uptick in use this year by people of all ages as food costs continue to rise and SNAP benefits face an uncertain future. Food insecurity is also one of the top ongoing concerns for older adults in Minnesota. Faith in Action for Cass County partners with area food shelves in Cass County to have volunteer drivers available to get people to and from the food shelf on the days they are open, as well as to local grocery stores and farmer’s markets.
Volunteer Drivers are especially needed throughout Cass County at this time. Volunteers with Faith in Action can choose when they are available, how often they want to drive and how far. All volunteers attend an orientation and complete a volunteer registration and background check. Drivers would use their own vehicles to transport people as needed one or more days each month.
Volunteer drivers receive scheduling support, mileage reimbursement, liability insurance, recognition, and the opportunity to help others in their community.
Faith in Action for Cass County is a nonprofit charitable organization that provides volunteer services to older adults, people with disabilities, and those in need of neighborly help in Cass County. Faith in Action volunteers help with transportation, friendly visits, caregiver respite and resources, chores, light housekeeping, critical home repairs and ramp building. There are no age requirements and no fees for services. Our goal is to help people remain living in their homes and communities for as long as they can.
If you have one or two times a month available to share with your neighbors in need, please consider being a driver for Faith in Action. Contact Faith in Action for Cass County at 218-675-5435 or at www.faithinactioncass.com.
