100 Women Who Care support Walker Food Shelf

100 Women Who Care of the Leech Lake Area gathered for their 7th event on Monday, October 6th at the Walker Area Community Center. Since the first event in December of 2022, $85,000 has been donated to 6 local nonprofits. Seven different nonprofits were nominated. The three drawn at random were the Walker Food Shelf, Walker Volunteer Fire Department and Paws and Claws. Each nonprofit had an opportunity to highlight how they serve our communities. The Walker Food Shelf received the most votes. They were awarded $7,300 that evening. Another $700 was received after the event…for a total of $8000. None of this would happen without the generosity of the women who faithfully attend, who have collectively contributed $93,000 to area nonprofits. Mark your calendars for the spring event on May 4th at Tianna Country Club. Photo submitted.
