Selena Roque of Cass County Public Health has been nominated for the Wellness Warrior Award presented by the MN Chapter of the Society for Public Health Education. This award is given to an individual who significantly champions mental health, social connections, and/or well-being within their work. Selena started her role in Cass County in August 2024. Over the past year, Selena had to quickly learn and then rebuild her internal and external work. Examples included creating new webpages, creating an online SHIP “interest form” - the first of its kind for Cass County and now other departments have implemented it as well, and completely restructuring how they go about doing their trauma informed work in the community. All of these things Selena considers foundational to ensuring people can do their job well. Photo submitted.
