Storm Volleyball Raises $800 for Breast Cancer

The Storm traveled to Bigfork for their annual tournament Sat., Sept. 27 and came home in second place. The first match was against Bigfork with a 2-0 win, 25-20 and 25-15. Nora Wake had 10 kills and seven digs during the match, while Maddie Barnes had two ace serves and 16 digs. Charity Berg contributed with two ace serves and five kills and Ashlyn Schwarz ended the match with six kills.
The second match of the day saw the ladies walk away with another 2-0 win over Littlefork/Big Falls, 28-26 and 25-13. Stat leaders during this match were Berg with six kills, one block and 15 digs; Schwarz with four kills and two blocks; Wake with four kills, one block and six digs and Barnes with 26 digs and three ace serves.
The final match of the day saw the Storm fall to Chisholm 0-2, 13-25 and 6-25. Wake had one kill and one ace serve while Schwarz also has an ace serve and one block. Mariah Dahl ended the day with two kills and one block.
Tuesday, Sept. 30 the Storm hosted Mount Iron-Buhl and fell 0-3, 12-25; 25-27 and 22-25. Stat leaders for the evening were Barnes with two ace serves and 26 digs; Wake with five kills, one ace serve, one block and eight digs; Schwarz with five kills, two ace serves and one block and Berg with five kills, 13 digs and one block.
Thursday, Oct. 2 the ladies traveled Northeast Range High School to take on the Nighthawks. The Storm walked away with a win in three (25-15, 25-11 and 25-8). Head Coach Stacey Wake stated “we finished the week with a conference win against Northeast Range. The Storm took control of the game right from the start and never looked back. It’s nice to have a game where everyone can get to play and your younger girls can gain some varsity experience for next year.”
Stat leaders for the evening were Berg with nine kills, 12 digs, and two ace serves; Taylor Washburg with four kills, three ace serves, 20 set assists and nine digs; Dani Hannula with six kills, four set assists, three digs and one ace serve and Schwarz with six kills.
Monday, Oct. 6 saw the ladies travel to Cherry and then to Bigfork on Tuesday, Oct. 7 before hosting their final game before playoffs in Remer Tuesday, Oct. 14 against Laporte which will also be senior night.
