  Ray Hanson, age 82, of Akeley, MN (formerly of Mora), passed away October 30, 2025, at Eastwood Senior Living in Mora, MN, due to Alzheimer’s disease.

   Ray was born March 13, 1943, in Bruno, MN, to Charles and Elsie Hanson. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in June 1960, and served for three years. He later worked as a carpenter contractor.

 

   On October 31, 1964, Ray married Denella Johnson and together they had three sons: Jeffrey (Michelle), Jay (Carolyn) and Joshua (Elishia). He was also blessed with grandchildren Timothy, Daniel, Sarah, Allyn, Amanda, Alexander, and Samantha.

   Ray was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Elsie; sisters Florence Holm and Lurene Schmidt; brother Donovan Hanson; brothers-in-law Al Holm and Roger Schmidt; and grandson Allyn Raymond Hanson.

   He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey (Michelle), Jay (Carolyn) and Joshua (Elishia), six grandchildren, and his sisters Gladys (Arlyn) Sievert, Mary (Cliff) Monette, Darlene Hanson, and Tammy (Mark) Benson; brothers Dennis (Jayne) and Darrell (Jeryl); and sister-in-law Janet.

   Ray always enjoyed camping trips with his family – especially to Canada. Fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and motorcycling were among his favorite pastimes.

   A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 until 4 P.M. on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Dresser-Methven Funeral Home in Mora.  Military honors will be provided at 4:00 P.M. by the Mora American Legion Post 201, also at the funeral home.
