Grand Prize Winner

   Some bass must be living under the dock. This week we gave a new rod and reel to two winners in the older group. Two youth caught a 20 and 35 ounce bass respectively. We also had a record number of youth in the casting contest who kept casting the line over the power line. But we still had three who made it into their target and won new rod/reel combos.

Kids fishing contest ages 0-5

At the Hackensack Kid’s Fishing Contest Tuesday, June 17, 16 kids in the 0-5 year old group, caught and released 27 fish. Beau L. caught the largest fish (1.6 oz.); Henry V. reeled in the first fish; Ayden B. landed the most fish (4); and Sawyer M. hooked the smallest fish (3.5 inches).

   This year some of the members of the Hackensack Chapter of the Izaak Walton League will be attending the contests on June 24, July 22, and August 12 to raise awareness of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s ‘Get the Lead Out’ program. Please go through your tackle boxes and bring all your lead tackle to them. They will turn it in and in return give you a sample of lead-free tackle.

Kids fishing contest ages 6-9

21 kids in the 6-9 year old group, caught and released 62 fish. Oliver B. caught the largest fish (8.2 oz.); Cooper S. reeled in the first fish; Beau D. landed the most fish (10); and the smallest fish award went to Jordan C. (3.25 inches) .

   The hot dog sponsor this week was Edina Realty of Hackensack (www.edinarealty.com/office/hackensack). We appreciate your help cooking and serving hot dogs.

Kids fishing contest ages 10-15

31 kids caught and released 134 fish. Maggie M. and Westin V. hooked the largest fish (35 and 20 oz.); the first fish was caught by Ely E. caught the most fish (28) and the smallest fish (1 3/4 inches) was landed by Charlie E.

   The dates for this year are every Tuesday, June 10th – August 12th, 2025 from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Be early to register before it starts. We look forward to seeing everyone that can make it.

Minnow Racing Winner
