Sharon “Pooch” Renee Moran, 68, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025, with her loving family by her side.
Born on June 1, 1957, in Grand Rapids, MN, she was the beloved daughter of Bobby and Anna Archer. Her life’s journey began in Remer, MN, where she graduated from Remer High School. She embraced life with fullness and joy, led by her steadfast faith and compassionate heart that left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. Her love for family and friends was her whole heart and soul.
June 28, 1975, Sharon was united in marriage to James T. Moran. Together they built a loving home that overflowed with joy, laughter, and dedication to hard work and family. She was a cherished mother and grandmother, always there to offer guidance, support and unconditional love.
Sharon was fully dedicated to being a loving and faithful homemaker who nurtured her family with unwavering devotion. She created a warm and welcoming home filled with care, commitment and selfless dedication. She also served for 26 years as the adored “lunch lady” for Greenway School District where she eventually became the food service manager followed by retirement.
She was a strong woman and the master of many hobbies. Sharon found joy in baking and cooking for large gatherings, ensuring that every meal was a celebration of togetherness. Her creative spirit flourished in her love of sewing, embroidery, crocheting, gardening, playing cards, and board games with the grandchildren. She had a well-known hobby of collecting unique rocks of all shapes and sizes. She particularly enjoyed searching for the perfect flat rock along lake shores. Her love of nature was evident in her wild blueberry picking, wild ricing and maple syruping. Cherished memories grace the shores of the family cabin on Long Lake near Longville. It was a place that provided peace and happiness. Sharon was often reminiscing about her childhood and shared many memories that included special moments such as baling hay with her father.
She is preceded in death by her father Bobby Archer, brother Jerry Archer, her dear aunt Jean Nelson, and many aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her devoted husband James; son James D. (Kari) Moran with their children: Lillian, Annie, Julia & Lucy; daughter Jackie (Chet) Christopherson with their children: Chelsea & Jenna; son Nathan (Sara) Moran with their children: Ava & Peyton; Brian (Kristen) Moran with their children: Evelyn, Elam, Aiden, & William; mother Anna Archer; sisters Diane Archer and Joanne Krause; brothers: Dennis Archer, Jim Archer, Doug Archer, and Greg Archer; mother and father-in-law: James and Betty Moran; sister-in-law Cindy McLain; brothers-in-law: Thomas Moran and Russ Moran.
Sharon’s lasting spirit of love, warmth, and kindness will continue to be cherished by all who were blessed to know her.
Saturday, June 21, 2025, visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 am, followed by celebration of life service around 11:00 am, with light lunch reception. Services are held at Grand Rapids Evangelical Free Church, 34384 County Road 63, Grand Rapids, MN 55744. In honor of Sharon and her wishes for a comfortable service, the family is encouraging casual dress, denim or embroidered attire.
