  Carol Marie Hicks, age 60, of Remer, MN, passed away suddenly Thursday, May 29, 2025, at her home.

Carol was born March 23, 1965, in Grand Rapids, MN to Thomas and Nancy (Swenkofskie) Hicks. Carol grew up in Remer, MN and graduated with the Class of 1983 from Northland High School. She continued her education in St. Cloud, MN where she studied nursing.  

   Carol moved to Fargo, ND, and it was during her time in Fargo that she met her longtime companion, Galen Plath. Carol and Galen resided in Fargo until 2015 when they moved to Hutchinson, MN, and in 2021 they returned to Carol’s hometown of Remer. If ever you had the opportunity to know Carol, you instantly loved her and would never forget her big laugh and sense of humor.

   Carol was a proud mother to her son Dane who was born in 1989. In addition to raising Dane and working, Carol enjoyed creating unique artwork, as well as cooking and baking. Carol was a devoted caregiver to her father Thomas before he passed away in the fall of 2024.  

   Carol is preceded in death by her parents; son Dane on May 17, 2025; brother Tommy Hicks, Jr.; She is survived by her companion Galen Plath; sister Jill (Reyes) Walden of Moorhead, MN. 

   In accordance with Carol’s wishes, no formal services are being planned at this time.
