Stuart Memorial Park celebrated

On Saturday, July 5, a ribbon cutting was conducted at Stuart Memorial Community Park to celebrate the remodeling of the current playground. To help celebrate, root beer floats were served. The park and Recreation Committee would like to give a special thank you to Parker Kline for cutting the ribbon and being a contributor to what is important to a person who struggles with mobility and sensory issues. Mayor, Jocko Kline did the opening remarks for the celebration, being the projects construction manager and one of the greatest supports and volunteer to the playground project. Another special thank you needs to Greg and Dawn Gilsrud, of Frosty’s Ice Cream & Pizza Parlor for donating the ice cream for the floats and their time volunteering at the community playground clean-up. Colleen Moravek, was instrumental in writing grants, communicating with the contractors and so much more that cannot be listed.

Though the above were instrumental in supporting the current reconstruction of the playground at Stuart Memorial Community Park, there has been a long list of others that worked behind the scenes to make this dream come true. As been mentioned many times, Longville and the surrounding communities have been built on a large community effort. Thank you to the Pickle Ball Club for helping with the service of floats, Meche Plaza for organizing and cleaning the equipment shed and the City of Longville for being the projects financial support.

As a continuing effort to keep improving our community park, we are asking if you have any basketballs, tennis balls, pickle balls, baseball mitts/ball or any other sporting equipment that you do not need or use any more, the Park and Recreation Committee would like you to consider donating them to the park. You could bring them either to the Longville City Hall or to the shed at the park. This would be a great addition to our park and bring more individuals in to enjoy our area. Remember that the donation is tax deductible. If you would like make a monetary donation so we can buy some equipment, you can send it to the Longville City Hall, PO Box 217, Longville, MN 56655 and add playground in the memo. Thank you to our wonderful community for all the help in making improvements.
