What’s your favorite weather app? We were watching 3 different apps for how much rain we were going to get. Mother nature held out and only gave us a few drip drops during the contest. The cooler temps and the light breeze provided for a lot of biting fish. Nobody was able to make the hula hoops in the Casting Contest this week. Sweetheart Days parade was a success too, dodging the weather again.

Kids fishing contest ages 0-5
At the Hackensack Kid’s Fishing Contest Tuesday, July 15, 20 kids in the 0-5 year old group, caught and released 38 fish. Olivia caught the largest fish (21 oz.); Ramond P. reeled in the first fish; Levi F. landed the most fish (10, not pictured); and Hudson H. hooked the smallest fish (3 inches).
This year some of the members of the Hackensack Chapter of the Izaak Walton League will be attending the contests on June 24, July 22, and August 12 to raise awareness of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s ‘Get the Lead Out’ program. Please go through your tackle boxes and bring all your lead tackle to them. They will turn it in and in return give you a sample of lead-free tackle.
