Donald “Eugene” Carlson of Longville, Minnesota, 80 years old, was born February 24, 1945 and passed away on June 18, 2025 at Golden Horizons Memory Care in Crosslake Minnesota.
Eugene was born in Pequot Lakes to Donald and Sybil Carlson, and was the oldest of 9 children; he had four brothers and four sisters. He grew up in Longville and graduated from Remer High School in 1963. After graduation, Eugene enlisted into the Air Force and served for 4 years; something he was very proud of. He was such a hard worker and never afraid to try something new. He was a logger, and an over-the-road truck driver hauling railroad ties in western states for many years. When he decided to move back to Longville, he dappled in many different things including a crayfish business, a sawmill and 101 other things. He was never afraid to work. Most of all, he enjoyed people and taking time for them. He would never miss a morning at the One Stop drinking coffee with the guys; many that were friends from childhood. So many people knew him and have shared many acts of kindness that he did for them. That’s just who he was. As the oldest in the family, he was always the one that would call and check on all of his brothers and sisters. He was a good BIG brother. Family was important.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Donald and Sybil Carlson; his brother Wayne; his sisters, Janelle and Brenda; brother-in-law’s Jack and Art. Also his sweet dog Rusty.
Eugene is survived by and will be missed by his brothers, Bill (Linda), Roger (Jolene) and Kevin (Darla); sister-in law Kathy, his sisters, Joyce and Karla (Wayne); along with many nieces and nephews. Also many dear friends.
A Service and Burial will be held on July 16, 2025 at 12 o’clock at the Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, Minnesota.
Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral and Cremation Service of Northern Minnesota.
