Grand Prize Winner

   Notice the déjà vu? Madison was our Grand Champion and Age 10-15 Largest Fish Winner. She took home 2 brand new rod/reel combos and a tackle box with tackle. This week was back to our average of 3 fish per youth, so the fish were hopping onto the hooks. We had a 3-way castoff for the Casting Contest with Logan from Lakeville taking the top spot.

Kids fishing contest ages 0-5

At the Hackensack Kid’s Fishing Contest Tuesday, July 8, 42 kids in the 0-5 year old group, caught and released 57 fish. Brody B. caught the largest fish (6.7 oz.); Liam A. reeled in the first fish; Hudson H. landed the most fish (11); and Jackson S. hooked the smallest fish (3.25 inches).

   Week 5 is our mid-point of the contest season. Only 5 more chances to come be a part of it.

Kids fishing contest ages 6-9

38 kids in the 6-9 year old group, caught and released 104 fish. Madison B. caught the largest fish (17 oz.); Rowen K. reeled in the first fish; Rick R. landed the most fish (21); and the smallest fish award went to Beau D. (3.125 inches) .

   This year some of the members of the Hackensack Chapter of the Izaak Walton League will be attending the contests on June 24, July 22, and August 12 to raise awareness of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s ‘Get the Lead Out’ program. Please go through your tackle boxes and bring all your lead tackle to them. They will turn it in and in return give you a sample of lead-free tackle.

Kids fishing contest ages 10-15

27 kids caught and released 155 fish. Gram C. hooked the largest fish (16 oz.); the first fish was caught by Eli P., Blake C. caught the most fish (36) and the smallest fish (2.125 inches) was landed by Charlie E.

   The hot dog sponsor this week was Mary Cosgrove and Scott Payne. We didn’t have a sponsor and they reached out to be our sponsor. Thank you for your help cooking and serving hot dogs.

   The dates for this year are every Tuesday, June 10th to August 12th, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Be early to register before it starts. We look forward to seeing everyone that can make it.

Minnow Racing Winner
