Remer’s Ninth Annual Bigfoot Days July 11 and 12
The legend of Bigfoot has been circling the Northwoods for nearly 60 years, and since 2016, Remer has proudly claimed the title of Home of Bigfoot.
Join local ‘squatch hunters for the Eighth Annual Bigfoot Days, taking place Friday and Saturday, July 11 and 12. Whether you’re a die-hard believer or just along for the adventure, this celebration is packed with fun, folklore, and family-friendly events.
Friday’s festivities begin at 5 p.m. with live storytelling from Bigfoot teams and individuals at the Pavilion Playground. At 6:30 p.m., make your way to the Remer Motel for the hilarious and highly competitive Bigfoot Olympics. Cap off the night with a classic Bigfoot meat raffle at the Muni.
Saturday, July 12, kicks off early for Bigfoot 5K participants, with registration starting at 7 a.m. and racing beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Depot. If running isn’t your thing, then head over to the Pavilion for a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. It’s a great way to fuel up for a busy day of Bigfoot fun. After you’ve had your fill of flapjacks, the Bigfoot Adult Scavenger Hunt begins at 11 at the Gazebo. If you ever get thirsty for something with a little kick, stop by the Muni throughout the day for Bloody Marys and spiked lemonades.
One of this year’s new highlights is the Bigfoot Chalk the Town contest, a creative, community-wide event that invites participants to decorate Remer’s sidewalks with Bigfoot-inspired chalk art. The top three winners will each receive a $50 gift card to a local business and all children will get a free ice cream cone. Supplies are provided and there is no cost to join, just show up in front of the Remer Motel at 9 a.m., judging begins at 2 p.m.
A midwestern classic bean bag tournament starts outside the Muni at noon, registration begins an hour earlier. At 12:30 p.m., you can either participate in the Kids Scavenger Hunt at the Gazebo or participate in the annual 3 on 3 basketball tournament outside of the Northland School. Kids can show off their best Sasquatch holler during the Bigfoot Calling Contest at 2:30, followed by Bigfoot teams and live storytelling at the pavilion. Enjoy live music by Young Country 2.0 at the Muni after 3 p.m.
When you appetite catches up to your Bigfoot spirit, head over to the Bigfoot BBQ Judging at 4 p.m. Shortly after at 4:30, there will be Bigfoot bingo at the Depot. The festivities wrap up with the grand fanale, the adult Bigfoot calling contest, set for 10 p.m. Don’t forget about the Flea Market on the west side of town all day!
