Get the Lead Out Competition at Laker Lions Corn Feed - August 16
The Crooked Lake Township Lakes and Shores Committee together with Cass County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Army Corps of Engineers will again be hosting a Get the Lead Out Competition at the Laker Lions annual Corn Feed.
This year’s event will be Saturday, August 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Pickled Loon Saloon in Emily, MN.
Members of two area lake associations, RALALA (Roosevelt And Lawrence Area Lakes Association) and LWA (Lake Washburn Association) along with support from Crooked Lake Township and the Cass County AIS team will be available to collect and weigh lead fishing tackle.
The Grand Prize for the most lead weight turned in will be a Minn Kota Endura Max 5 Speed Trolling Motor and Battery. Second prize for the most lead weight is 18 Holes plus a Golf Cart at Emily Greens Golf Course for four people.
Additionally, everyone who turns in a minimum of 1.0 ounces will qualify for the general raffle prizes of $50.00 gift certificates from the Crooked Lake Cafe, the Pickled Loon, the Red Pine Cookhouse and the Village Inn. Winners will be announced at 3:00 p.m. and need not be present to win.
At the booth, kids will also be able to create T-Shirt transfers and take home gift bags from the Army Corps of Engineers. Adults can collect information about RALALA and LWA, as well as the Get the Lead Out campaign and other activities to deter aquatic invasive species (AIS) from our area lakes.
